Body protectors first became mandatory for the cross-country phase of eventing in the mid 90’s. Since then the technology has advanced and they have become essential for riders of all levels across many disciplines. It is becoming common for riders to wear BP’s whilst schooling, hacking and jumping, especially junior riders.

Champion offer two styles of foam body protector. We refer to these as ‘static’ body protectors as they offer proactive protection, rather than the reactive protection that an ‘active’ body protector would e.g. an air jacket. Static body protectors work on and off the horse and do the same job for your ribs and torso as a helmet is doing for your head.

TITANIUM TI22 BODY PROTECTOR

The Ti22 is a unisex flexible segmented style body protector that meets EN 13158: 2018 BETA level 3 2018 – the most recent BETA standard for body protectors, required for eventing, team chasing and working hunters. Available in three different size ranges and back lengths for slimline fit and effectiveness.

SCULPT BACK PROTECTOR

The Sculpt Back Protector offers comfortable, sleek, lightweight protection for riders seeking a middle ground between a full body protector and nothing. Ideal for hacking and schooling, this style is also popular among showjumpers and people bringing on young horses.

Made in the UK, The Sculpt is manufactured to EN1621-2-2014 motorcycle standard and is designed to protect the back in the event of a fall. The Sculpt Back Protector uses foam protection that is removable and the garment is washable when the foam is removed.

It comes in 12 sizes ranging from small to large in a standard or slim fit. With the offer of regular or short back lengths.
